Helping Future Generations Set Sail

Founded in 2021, Cielo Vista Church launched ShipBuilders as a community outreach ministry with an intentionality of navigating and sharing the Gospel of Christ with the lives of those in our elementary and middle schools.

We build ships, that is, relationships within our local community. To achieve this, we formed a partnership with the Ysleta Independent School District and are currently collaborating with five schools: REL Washington, Glen Cove, Edgemere, Pebble Hills Elementary, and Hanks Middle.

Through these connections, we have begun various after school programs and bible studies, which have opened doors for our church to show the love of Christ to children and families in our neighborhood.

We Build Ships

"Some of these students have never stepped foot in a church, but through our presence in their schools, they're experiencing the church come to them."

MENTORSHIPS

Our Mentorship program is a time when Shipbuilder shepherds go either after school (for Elementary) or midday (for Middle School) to mentor and share 1 hour of their time once a month to support children through talking, interaction by playing board games, and listening to students who are characterized by the school’s administration as at risk and lacking a traditional home environment.

FRIENDSHIP CLUB

Friendship Club is our after-school bible study where Shipbuilder shepherds share the Gospel to both upper and lower grade students. It has provided a unique opportunity where we, as a church, are allowed (with administration consent) to enter the school and present God’s Word through fun activities such as singing, games, and Bible study.

PARTNERSHIP

The Partnership program is when Shipbuilder shepherds are called upon by our schools in a sporadic manner to help with school events during school hours. These can consist of helping the staff decorate a gym for a dance, grill hamburgers and hotdogs for hardworking teachers and staff, or painting the faces of children during Chalk the Block. We support each campus when we are called upon to serve.

CAVALIER LEADERSHIP FOR CHRIST

The Cavalier Leadership for Christ (C.L.C.) is an after school bible study gathering at Hanks Middle School. Our Shipbuilder shepherds teach whole group gospel lessons discussing scripture and how to tie it in to their home and school lives. Small breakout sessions gather with volunteers afterwards.
